Trucking compliance calendar: what is due this month, and the next twelve?
Five recurring filings a small fleet owner carries in their head: Form 2290, IFTA, the MCS-150 update, the Drug and Alcohol Clearinghouse query and UCR. Four are verified against official text. UCR is not, and this page says so. The next IFTA return in the file is due Monday, Nov 2, 2026.

| Filing | Status | Rule as found | Source | Retrieved |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Form 2290 heavy highway vehicle use tax | Verified in source | File by the last day of the month after the month the vehicle is first used on public highways in the tax period (July 1 to June 30); next business day if it falls on a weekend or holiday. Electronic filing is required for 25 or more vehicles. | www.irs.gov | Oct 9, 2026 |
| MCS-150 / MCSA-1 biennial update (USDOT registration) | Verified in source | Update every 24 months. MCS-150: month = last digit of the USDOT number (1 is January, 0 is October); year = odd or even to match the next-to-last digit (49 CFR 390.201(d)). The example number is invented. Clearinghouse: 12 months from the last query (49 CFR 382.701(b)). Form 2290 and IFTA come from the tables above. A rule check, not tax or legal advice.
What to do tomorrow
Look up your MCS-150 month
Use the calculator with your USDOT number. Put the month on your calendar. A missed update can lead to deactivation of the number (49 CFR 390.201).
Check when each truck was first used this period
Form 2290 is due the month after first use. Read the due date off the table. Electronic filing is required at 25 or more vehicles.
Pull your last Clearinghouse query date for each driver
The annual query is due 12 months after the last one. A limited query with the driver's consent counts.
Look up UCR on the official site

Questions
Is UCR left out?
It is listed, marked not verified, and given no date. We could not read the filing window from an official source.
Does this replace my accountant or my IFTA base state?
No. It is a rule check from public text. Your base jurisdiction and your preparer have the last word.
Why does the IFTA table show a different day from the rule date?
The rule date is the last day of the month after the quarter. If that is a weekend, the next business day applies (R960). Holidays are not modeled.
Is the USDOT number I type stored?
No. The calculator runs in your browser. Nothing you type is sent anywhere.
