Pilot 5, EXAMPLE VALUES
Money at risk: one worked example, start to finish
We ran a sample file of 120 invented loads (2026-06-01 to 2026-09-06) through the same engine the free audit uses. It found $29,485.09: $27,410.09 in unpaid invoices over 30 days and $2,075.00 of detention nobody billed. Nothing here is a real carrier, broker or amount.
EXAMPLE VALUES Invented loads, invented brokers (shown here as Broker A to E), invented amounts. Generated 2026-10-09 with a detention rate of $50 an hour, which is an input, not a market figure.

Finding 1: unpaid invoices over 30 days, $27,410.09
20 invoice(s), $27,410 unpaid and older than 30 days (as of 2026-10-09) The oldest is 109 days. Names of the invented brokers are replaced by letters.
| Invoice age | Open balance |
|---|---|
| 31-60 days | $22,124.76 |
| 61-90 days | $1,851.59 |
| over 90 days | $3,433.74 |
| Broker | Open balance |
|---|---|
| Broker C | $9,377.36 |
| Broker A | $8,204.78 |
| Broker D | $4,869.67 |
| Broker E | $2,647.40 |
| Broker B | $2,310.88 |
| Load | Broker | Age (days) | Open balance |
|---|---|---|---|
| SAMPLE-1025 | Broker A | 109 | $1,790.38 |
| SAMPLE-1033 | Broker A | 103 | $1,643.36 |
| SAMPLE-1074 | Broker A | 71 | $1,851.59 |
| SAMPLE-1088 | Broker C | 56 | $1,452.18 |
| SAMPLE-1093 | Broker C | 52 | $1,100.01 |
Formula with numbers
- Open balance = rate - payments - credits (never below 0), per invoice.
- Counted: unpaid invoices dated more than 30 days before 2026-10-09.
- Sum of 20 open balances = $27,410.09; engine total $27,410.09
Finding 2: detention not billed, $2,075.00
41.5 hours above 2 hours free time on 22 loads where the detention column was empty or zero, at an input rate of $50.00 an hour.
| Broker | Value |
|---|---|
| Broker B | $800.00 |
| Broker A | $450.00 |
| Broker E | $350.00 |
| Broker D | $250.00 |
| Broker C | $225.00 |
Formula with numbers
- Per stop: hours above free time = max(0, hours - 2.0). Missed hours = 41.5 (engine: 41.5).
- Value = missed hours x your hourly rate $50.00/h = $2,075.00.
- Counted dollars exclude loads whose invoice balance is already in the cash-at-risk finding (one dollar, one finding) -> $2,075.00.
Who pays slowly: the sample by broker
The slowest payer in the sample is Broker C. Pays in 42.6 days on average (14 paid invoices) 18.2% of your revenue with known brokers ($27,055) No dollars are claimed here: this is context for the two findings above.
| Broker (invented) | Loads | Revenue | Share of revenue | Paid invoices | Average days to pay |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Broker A | 41 | $50,451 | 34.0% | 35 | 16.5 |
| Broker B | 26 | $29,086 | 19.6% | 24 | 23.5 |
| Broker C | 21 | $27,055 | 18.2% | 14 | 42.6 |

| Broker E | 13 | $18,203 | 12.3% | 11 | 27.4 |
120 loads, revenue $148,561.54; revenue per loaded mile $2.388; per all mile $2.078; deadhead 13.0%.
The score and how it is built
The engine also gives a plain-points health score of 50 out of 100 for this sample. Each row shows its rule.
| Component | Value | Points | Rule |
|---|---|---|---|
| Deadhead share | 13.0% | 18 of 30 | <=8%: 30, <=12%: 24, <=16%: 18, <=20%: 12, <=25%: 6, above 25%: 0 |
| Invoices settled within 30 days | 61% (73 of 120) | 18 of 30 | 30 x (paid within 30 days / [paid invoices + unpaid invoices older than 30 days]) |
| Top-broker share of revenue | 34.0% | 14 of 20 | <=25%: 20, <=40%: 14, <=55%: 8, <=70%: 4, above 70%: 0 |
| Money at risk vs revenue | 18.5% | 0 of 20 | 0%: 20, <=2%: 15, <=5%: 10, <=10%: 5, above 10%: 0 |

The PDF carries the same two findings with the load-by-load tables, the formulas and draft claim letters. It is flagged EXAMPLE VALUES on the first line. Every letter is a draft that needs human approval before sending and is not legal advice. Deadlines are blank placeholders: fill them from your contracts.

Questions
Are these real brokers and loads?
No. The sample file is invented. The brokers are shown here as letters, and the PDF uses invented names. No real company or amount appears.
Where do the numbers on this page come from?
From the audit engine run on the sample file, saved as data/pilots/money_at_risk_sample/packet_summary.json. Nothing on the page was typed by hand.
Is the detention rate a market rate?
No. $50 an hour is an input chosen for the example. In a real audit you type your own.
Can I send the claim letters as they are?
No. They are drafts. A person has to review and approve them, and they are not legal advice.
